Rob Perna
My DJ work started in the 70's during the disco era. Some called me DJ "Rooster" and some called me "Wolfman JR." The rooster came from a rooster crow I would do to liven things up a bit at a gig. Wolfman comes from my baritone voice along with a fairly good imitation of the late, great, "Wolfman Jack".
I was a DJ at Club Victors in Fort Walton during the disco era. At the time Victors was the happening spot for all of northern Florida, Southern Alabama, Southern Georgia, and quite a few from Mississippi would venture our way. Week nights we had between 600-800 and weekend nights upwards of 1500. It was truly the Disco of the south that everyone wanted to be at.
I entered the Army in 1979 where I was in the Communications Field and still had time to be around music. I would rent equipment and DJ for friends at parties and weddings. Wtih the 3 vets in this family, we believe vets are there for vets. Let us know if you are a vet, special considerations are given to all vets.
After my tour I worked 24 years in the Communications business while contracting here and there to do weddings for friends and family. I've also sub contracted from DJ companies over the years when time permitted.
With communications companies being unstable and layoffs it was time for a change and more stability. I made a career change and now work social services.
As the money is less than what I made in communications, but now more of a 9-5 job, I have extra time on my hands and decided to offset the loss by DJ'ing on my own. Though Perna's Entertainment is young as a company the experience is there. 2007 brought a great start to the business with 36 weddings/receptions, several private parties and school functions, and charity work.
I'm on my soon to be 25th year of marriage to my 2nd wife. I have 4 children, 2 with my first wife and 2 with my 2nd. All 4 of my children have DJ experience and love music and people.
Jean Perna
I am also a veteran where I started out in law enforcement. After a few years decided I could help more in social services. While I let the rest of the family work the equipment, my talent is in public speaking. I assist everyone and sometimes emcee for them.
Rob has been responsible for all of us having music in our lives.
Chris Perna
"DJ Smooth". I enjoy people and I'm an outgoing person. My full time work is retail where I manage a business at the mall.
I have enjoyed music from a young age thanks to Pop always having music around. I have provided music for friends at parties, and now I get to do it with professional equipment and music. I'm very diverse when it comes to genres.
Chrissy Perna
In 1997-2000 while attending UAMS I was working the DJ/KJ scene with/for a friend David. David is a local DJ/KJ in Arkansas.
I decided that medicine was not for me in 2000. I moved to Florida and started working as an office manager in Communications for Mastec. Pop's working for Mastec had nothing to do with me getting the job. Caught up in restructuring our office was closed. I then went to work for another communications company on a hurricane clean up rebuild as their office manager. Being a contract for restoring only the job didn't last. Pop's advised me that if I was going to stay in communications lay offs and buy outs were common.
I thought a different field might be the answer and found that it was not.
I decided that I would strike out on my own. This way I'm responsible for myself and if my job lasts or doesn't. I now attend the Art Institute where I major in photography and plan to start my own business.
While not available to DJ at this time, I'm available to pop if he needs me.
Coming soon: Chrissy's business in photography.
Nick Perna
"DJ Nitro Nick". Nick is our youngest DJ, being 20, yet has the experience and knowledge of how to work and keep the equipment going. He aids in keeping us updated on the new hot music.
He is able to work a job on the equipment side while one of us is the emcee while he is learning the emcee part. Nick will be able to DJ on his own soon. He can keep the younger crowd on the floor.
Nick works a full time job for a local mason where he is a mason's apprentice.
Shaun Perna
Shaun also a veteran and another experienced DJ (not available at this time). Shaun also decided to go into communications. Shaun at this time is living in Arkansas where he does some DJ work on the side.
